Windsor Cricket Club would like to invite you to the first social event of the new season - An evening of fine wine and food at the Home Park.

An unlimited range of red, white and rose wines from around the world will be on offer for you to enjoy. In addition, there will be delectable selection of breads, cheeses and cold meats for you to sample with your tipple.

Tickets for this event are just £15 and that includes all wine and the buffet.

There are 3 easy ways that tickets can be purchased. In cold hard cash payable to Richie, Taz or Wes. By cheque. By electronic bank tansfer. If you wish to pay by cheque or transfer the funds electronically please contact Richie and he will provide you with the relevant details.PLEASE NOTE THAT TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE AND ENTRY WITHOUT A TICKET WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE NIGHT.

Dear club members

On Saturday the 19th of September, Windsor CC will be once again hosting the annual end of season awards party.

This will be held in a specially erected marquee on the C1 outfield in front of the Cricket Pavilion. Dress code is smart evening wear (men to wear the club tie if possible- (on sale from Taz)).

There will be a champagne reception with canapés, a full sit down meal with free wine on the table. We will be giving out playing awards after dinner and a live band will get everybody dancing the night away. There will be a bar open all night as well

The evening will start at 7pm, and dinner will be served about 7.45pm. The band will start at approx 9.30 pm and the party will finish at 1 am

Tickets will be £50 per person but a couples ticket will be £90. Deposits of £15 per person needs to be paid by 18th July and full ticket price to be paid by the 22nd August.

We all had a fantastic time last year and of course players partners, colts, managers, coaches and parents are all very welcome

Just a quick update on the social front.

A couple of weeks ago saw the Inaugural Slow Race and Bad Shirt Night. Richard Noble 'won' the slow race in his pants which was lovely for all to see. However, with Mohindru, Huggins, Houghton and Nichols still to run in the second heat, the competition is far from over.

Equally as attractive as Richard in his underwear, was Alex Haynes' Bad Shirt which saw him crowned champion of the poor taste competition. A good night was had by all and we raised a bit of money for the club coffers which is always nice!

This weekend we are hosting a 'Three Legged Night' and our annual Stump Racing competition.

In an attempt to revive our student lifestyles we will be hosting a three legged night. For anyone who is unclear as to what this is..... please see below.

We will also be holding a stump racing competition on the outfield which will pit all the XI's against each other. It has yet to be seen whether the three legged night and the stump race can take place simultaneously but each team will need at least 5 participants. After Tug Boat's woeful perfomance on tour, Bri will need to think carefully about his selection policy!

There will also be food available at the clubhouse on Saturday...... so I look forward to celebrating the continued on field success with everyone!

BAD SHIRT NIGHT / INAUGURAL SLOW RACE

This Saturday not only sees the first league game of 2009, it also sees Windsor CC’s inaugural Slow Race. The race pits some of Windsor’s finest athletes against each other in a 60 metre dash across C1 on Saturday evening.

The idea is for each XI to nominate 2 competitors each, although the rules can be bent if one XI is particularly laden with slowies.

We are also having a Bad Shirt night to celebrate the beginning of the league season, so please come dressed to un-impress. Everyone will pay £1 to enter, if your shirt is not deemed bad enough by our resident bad shirt expert, Richard Noble, you will have to pay £3 and the money goes to the winner (who will be expected / forced to buy jugs with it).

There will be food available at the clubhouse as well.

Hopefully we will be celebrating 5 x 25 points on Saturday!

End of season Ball- 'Party on the Park'

Dear club members

This year is the first annual end of season ball and will be held in the evening of the 13th September in a specially erected marquee on the C1 outfield.

Tickets are £50 pp and £90 for a couple.

It will be the culmination of the 2008 season and will be a 'suited and booted' (club tie) affair.

There will be a Pimms reception, a 2 course hograost meal will be served, with wine on the table, players awards, a raffle, a live band and a DJ so we can party the night away at the CC and finish the season is style….

Please turn up in your loudest beach shirt that you own (the worse the better) and enjoy the South African tunes, the large BBQ and beach bar themed cocktails.....

On Fri 20th June - the annual Interclub Twenty:20 match takes place at Home Park

This year the two teams that are going head to head are:

'Free & Single XI'

vs.

'Under the Thumb XI'

The game kicks off at 5.30 sharp. the teams will be playing in coloured clothing, full Twenty:20 rules, white ball, each batsman has his own theme song and there will be music and commentary throughout the game. The Bar will be open, and a BBQ will be on the balcony.

Those of you that have played or watched before, know the banter, and this year will be no different.

All colts, parents and partners are encouraged to come and watch this exciting format of the game live in Windsor.......

Windsor CC Golf day and Cheese and Wine Evening

On Friday the 28th March, Windsor CC has its first 'all dayer' social event.

Windsor CC's annual golf day will be taking place on Friday 28th March at Stockley Park Golf Club. Those of you have attended before will know that it is open to golfers of all abilities and is without fail a really good day out. (Tickets are on sale from Oli Birch)

08.30 meet for coffee and bacon rolls

09.28 - 10.00 tee off times

14.00pm rolling lunches (choice of sausage and mash or ham, egg and chips)

Price per head is £25 which includes breakfast, golf, lunch and prizes for top 3 golfers, longest drive and nearest the pin. This is an open event, friends and partners are more than welcome.

To make things even better Kitch is hosting the annual 'WCC cheese and wine evening' on the 28th as well.

Tickets are £12.50 for the evening (and are available in advance only from Smithy, Taz or Kitch).

For that all the wine you can drink and cheese you can eat is included!

Again this event is for all members and partners. The evening will start about 7.30 pm in the cricket club pavilion.

Smithy's Quiz Night

Dear club members, on Friday 15th Feb Chris Smith will be hosting a quiz night in the bar, from 8pm onwards.

Loosely based on the National Lottery style quiz show 'who dares wins' entrants will pay £2 each to enter, and will be randomly allocated a partner to enter the quiz. Subjects will contain sport, music and general knowledge......

The annual beach party will be taking place on Bank Holiday weekend in the club house, that will be decorated to look like a beach shack!

2007 'Royal Race Night' 07

The next Windsor CC social is the biggest and most attended social event in the calendar. This year the annual 'Royal race night' takes place on Friday 1st June at 8pm.......

Moony is your host, Craig is the MC and Cornish is managing the 'bookies'. The 8 races will be shown on the big screen with Craig's dulcet tones introducing each race.

Please contact Taz or Moony and get a group of you or company to sponsor one of the 8 races for £50 each. Each horse is also for sale at £5, and you win a prize if your horse wins. And of course bets are taken on each horse by the Cornish clan. The races and horses must be sold prior to the evening

This is usually the most fun and profitable night of the year for Windsor CC, and all profits from this night are to go to top up the net regeneration fund started by the profits made by the Taverner's day last year.

He will need you to advise him of 2 specialist SPORTING subjects. The evening will follow the TV programme schedule with each contestant having 2 mins to answer as many questions as possible on their chosen specialist subject.

This will be a great evening, to come and watch your fellow club members answer some tricky and very interesting sporting questions!

Tickets are £15 in advance only, payable to bar staff, Craig or Alex (Taz). There are only 60 tickets available so please buy those tickets early!

This is an all you can eat and drink evening, with Craig and Shiela bringing a multitude of French wines and a superb selection of French Cheese to the pavilion.

There will also be a wine tasting competition hosted by Craig with a prize for the person with the best pallet!

As we know from past experience, lots amusing incidents happen on the cheese and wine evenings, and this is one social event you will not want to miss!

WINDSOR CC CHAIRMAN'S GOLF DAY

On friday 29th Sept, the Windsor CC Chairman's golf day will take place at Stockley Park Golf course at 10am. Tickets are £30 a-head in advance, including breakfast and lunch, and tickets need to be purchased from our Chairman, Phil Bullock in advance.

Boks and Roo's Bank Holiday BBQ Beach Party

To celebrate the contribution to the club of the 3 new overseas players we have this season we will be partying in the pavilion on the bank holiday weekend after the games on Sat the 26th August.

The theme is a BBQ beach party, there will be some summer tunes playing from both Wes's iPod and Brian's guitar, BBQ food cooked on the balcony, some of Jackie and Dave's famous cocktails will be mixed and some of Smithy's beer promos will be on, and the pavilion will be decorated like a Barbados beach shack to get us in the mood for the cricket world cup......!!!.

If 2 years ago was anything to go by, there will some drunken games of the limbo going on too!

All male attendees need to wear a loud Hawaiian style shirt..... the louder the better!!!!! Female partners and friends are of course welcome and free to don any type of beach party attire that they choose....!

I hope to see you all there and continue the fantastic attendance at socials this year!

Windsor CC 2006 Pool and Darts Championship

On Fri 4th August we have a Pool and Darts Championship in the Pavilion-£5 entry fee (gets you a place in the group stages, where you play a minimum of 2 games. Winners of the groups go through to the knockout stages)

Overall winner of each sport will take the respective prize money!!!!

Play either Pool or Darts-the entry form is on the notice board for both ‘pub sports’ and Nick Cornish will collect entry fees on the night!

There will be hot food for sale, so even if you don’t want to play, come down and cheer on the competitors, have some grub and some drinks!

As the club does have some very competitive members, and some good sledging tactics, I am sure there will be plenty of tension and drama!

2nd Annual Windsor CC Twenty20 Game

After last year's popular and exciting match, the Interclub Twenty20 match returns this month with all the razzmatazz of last year's event. After Windsor & Eton defeating Windsor Vic's last time, this year's challenge will pit Fresh-Faced Youth against the wily vets as it's:

Windsor CC Over 30's vs. Windsor CC's Under 30's.

As with last year there will be all the fun and games of the First-Class game, with live music, coloured clothing and the full Twenty 20 rules.

If you are more interested in the Socialising of the game and wish to spectate, then all is welcome. The Bar will be open and the balcony is bound to be packed. We shall also be having a barbeque after the game, when Windsor CC's very own Swedish Chef will be rustling up some more of his tasty snacks.

Rob Spence Live II - Tazza and Moonie's Birthday Bash

As one of the most popular social events of last year, on Saturday 20th May, Rob Spence will be once again appearing live at ‘Windsor CC pavilion’.

(For those of you that didn’t come last year you missed out on him singing all sorts old and new songs acoustically. When I asked members which socials would they want repeated, it was the first social that was asked for! One key request was that Nobsey doesn’t join in singing with him again!)

Rob will start playing about 8- 8.30 pm ish (to allow time for the 1st XI and 3rd XI to get back from their respective away games.)

The price is £3, collected on the evening. Hot food will be available to buy

This date also happens to be Tazz's 30th birthday and Moony has his the day before, so come help us celebrate in style!

Please mention it to partners, family and friends and I hope the colts teams and managers can attend as this is definitely a night where there will be a great atmosphere in the club.

Birchy's Bank Holiday Barbie Bonanza
Sunday 30th April from 7.30pm

With our second overseas player (Abe) arriving on Sunday morning, and with the balcony primed and ready to go. Birchy, our very own Swedish Chef, will be priming the Windsor CC barbeque, mixing his own special sauce and dishing up a Bank Holiday delight to all this coming Sunday.

With Monday being a day off, why not take advantage and pop down Sunday evening and enjoy the spring sunshine down at Home Park. The bar, as ever, will be open and the Sunday 1's will be taking on our fellow Home Park residents Cranbourne, so it promises to be a good night.

The 'interclub' game on Sat will be a good test of how well net practice has gone this winter, and to celebrate the start of the 2006 season, and to help us through what will probably be a cold evening, there will be a curry house feel to proceedings....

From 7pm ish onwards you will be able to buy a Meat or Veggie curry with Rice and a popadum for £4. Garry will also be doing an Indian beer promotion (Cobra/ Kingfisher or similar) to really get us in the mood...

Please come down, even if you are not playing, to catch up with your team mates before the season really gets underway....

There will be a Christmas Disco for all members , partners and Friends on Saturday 10th December 2005 at the Home Park Pavillion from 7.30pm until Midnight.

The Disco will be in full swing thoroughout the night as well as various other things to enjoy including your chance to 'Win-it-big' on the Christmas Bonus ball competition.

Tickets, available in advance from Jackie Smith are £4, with pay on the night tickets available for £5. We hope to see you down at the club to celebrate the festive season in style.

The Third Annual Battle of the Sexes

Friday 8th July - Home Park - 6.30pm start

It's July, it's hot and it's got to that time of the year, the annual cricket match between the Girls and Boys of Windsor CC.

Moonie invites one and all to play in what has historically been a fiercely contested partnership. Few could forget the site of Mark Huggins running around the Windsor outfield in a bra and panties trying to play for the girls (no change there some would say....). Kitch will be on hand for his own one on one coaching sessions. Plus, as ever the bar will be open and Gary will provide a detailed analysis of what happened during the game.

If available, please contact Moonie (if a boy) or Jackie (if a girl). If unsure which you are (Mugboat), I suggest asking Gary and he will put you in the picture.

Food and drink will be available after the game, with the bar open throughout. As ever, all are welcome.

Friday 3rd June 2005 - Windsor CC Clubhouse - 7.30pm start

Teams of 4 - £5.00 entry fee. Prizes for up for grabs.

Each round with have the usual cryptic Smithy clue, but expect a little bit of Pop, TV themes, Films, Classical and Hits from the past.

As ever Bar is open and their is even a possibility of a bite to eat (well crisps anyway).

Friday 29th April - Windsor C.C Race Night:

The annual chance to beat the bookies.

Six races will be shown on the night, plus many other events run in conjunction. Food will be available and our honouree Chairman 'Kitch' will be running the show.

All proceeds raised will help to buy the club new covers.

If you can donate a prize towards the raffle then please bring it along on the night.

If you have not yet bought a horse then please contact Craig Kitchin.

First race is at 20.00 so please arrive early to get the best view in the house.

Saturday 11th June - Rob Spencer - Live and Unplugged

Booked through popular demand Rob will be playing from 20.30 until late.

He plays music for all taste, and will be an excellent night for you to bring the wife or other half to the club.

Food will be available.

Entrance will be £3 to cover charges.

Thursday 4th August - Great British Beer Festival - Kensington Olympia

Come and witness the largest collection of beers in one room and try to drink your way through it!

Session runs from 12.00 -10.30 p.m. Ticket will cost £6 plus train fare.

Craig and Sheila's Wine and Cheese Night
Thursday 24th March 2005 at Windsor CC Clubhouse

Yes it's wine time everyone, as Craig and Sheila Kitching bring culture to Windsor CC for one night only. With the next day off for Good Friday, why not pop down the clubhouse to sample a Shiraz or a chunk of chedder.

You needn't be a wine buff, just enjoy good company and a chance to catch up with friends and team-mates.

Games Night

Games night Friday 19th Nov. 7.30pm

The first ever games night will be held at Windsor CC on Friday 19th Nov from 7.30pm down at the club. Organised by chairman Craig Kitching, games will feature Darts, Skittles, Shove Ha'Penny and Putting.

Teams of 4 are required with preferably 2 ladies plus 2 men, although this is not compulsary. If you wish to enter a team, please forward all member names to Craig by 15th November. Entry per team £15. Payment and reservation up front as their is a maximum of 20 teams on the night and places will be given strictly on a first come, first served basis. Prizes for winners (and losers!) throughout the night.

As always, Jayne will be providing hot food on the night, and the bar will be open throughout so competitors can be fully refreshed between the rounds. Rememeber to get your names to Criag as soon as possible and we hope to see you down at the club soon!

England vs Wales - World Cup Qualifer.

See one of the most eagerly awaited Home Internationals in seasons as England take on Wales from Old Trafford, Manchester. The cheapest (and with the new chairs, the comfiest!) bar in Windsor will be open from 2pm to allow you to soak up the atmosphere of the big game, ready for the 3pm kick off. We hope you will be down to cheer the boys on (of whatever nationality!)!!
